Changes to Earth's Rotation or Revolution

Discoveries: Springtime for Neptune

Scientists noted that portions of Neptune were becoming brighter. They established that a change in cloud cover that results from additional heating of the planets surface from radiant heat from the sun.

An Earth-Changing Earthquake
On December 26, 2004 an earthquake in the Indian Ocean caused by the shifting of two tectonic plates, caused the plates to shift and in general take up much less space. Because the earthquake caused such dramatic shifts of tectonic plates it caused some of the Earth's mass to be drawn closer to the center of the Earth. This increase in density changed the speed the Earth revolves around the sun. It also could change the Earth's wobble, called the Chandler Wobble, by about an inch.
